The show moves to the modern era
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living carrying out contract killings for the highest fees. He soon meets a worthy rival: a tenacious British intelligence officer, who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, set in 1963 and linked to the assassination attempt on then-President of France, Charles de Gaulle.
I have never followed Redmayne’s work before, but he is outstanding in this drama
Graham Norton is mentioned and guests: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). So impressive that I wondered if Barbara Broccoli should turn him into the next James Bond!
So far I’ve watched up to episode 6 of 10
Stylish and intelligent performances, as well as first-class production values. Unfortunately, I have to agree with many other reviewers that Bianca’s character is not very well cast, and unfortunately this somewhat detracts from the overall quality of the show, causing it to drop from a 9/10 to maybe an 8.
But it’s still worth a watch
I’ll read the book and watch the Edward Fox movie afterward.
