The Duttons faced new challenges in the early 1900s, including the rise of Western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. Although the Great Depression began in the United States in 1929, it began very early in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, nearly 10 years before the rest of the country. While the rest of America was prosperous, Montana was struggling. Between drought and the decline in demand for agricultural products brought on by the end of the “Great War” (i.e., World War I, 1914-1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers could not repay their war loans, leading to widespread bank failures throughout the state. Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana’s farmers lost their land. By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 janitors were gone. Additionally, 200 Montana banks failed. The drought not only affected crops, it was followed by locust and livestock infestations. Featured in Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford (2023). After Yellowstone, it was a different, but similar feeling… I really enjoyed it and while I should see some ore, something makes me feel like maybe this could be better (more challenging after Yellowstone!) BUT. BUT. BUT… It finally seems to be starting to move forward with the merging of the side stories… And then it ends – apparently it’s slated for a second season – BUT – if it doesn’t, you’ve just wasted your time because the story isn’t even over by the end of this first season. And there is currently no announcement or schedule for a second season… This makes me so angry! It’s like going to a fancy restaurant and being served only sides with no main course!!! Damn it… Bring it on the producers… Get your fingers off!!!!
