At the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, a young Bob Dylan changes his act on the folk music scene by switching to electric music and establishing rock as the voice of a generation — defining one of the most transformative moments in 20th-century music. An October 2020 Collider interview with cinematographer Phedon Papamichael revealed that a Bob Dylan film project would be put on hold due to the recently announced COVID precautions studios are taking. And that’s why Papamichael and director James Mangold are moving on to other projects. “I don’t think he’s dead,” Papamichael said of the Chalamet-led biopic, “But it’s hard to do in the COVID era because it’s all in small clubs with a lot of extras in period costumes, so you’ve got a lot of hair and makeup. Our next project is actually Indiana Jones 5 (2022). Mangold is doing that.”
